History of the HamburgerWe are not sure when National Hamburger Day was created but we are glad that they did! Food history always vary based on where you are from but here are a few theories of who created the first hamburger!
Ancient EgyptiansSome say that the hamburger dates all the way back to Egypt. It is said that they would prepare ground meat (probably wasn't beef) formed into patties with spices
Genghis Khan Mongol ArmyThe Genghis Khan Mongol Army was also known for eating ground meat patties. However, their version of the hamburger is not quite what we are used to.... It is said that they would place meat patties under their saddle bags so when they rode their horses it would tenderize the meat. They would also eat it raw... This eventually made its way into Russia and spread from there from trade routes. While that was probably a delicacy back then, we sure are glad for our modern American Burger!
